Guam EPA to host Earth Week 2008! Mini-Workshops

The Guam Environmental Protection Agency (Guam EPA), in cooperation with the Guam Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam, the Guam Contractors Association and the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association, will host mini-workshops to discuss permit requirements that affect various industries on Guam.

The mini-workshops will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008, at the Outrigger Guam Resort on the mezzanine level. There will be three concurrent sessions. Registration is required to attend each session.

"There are many important environmental issues and aspects of our regulations that these workshops will address," said Lorilee T. Crisostomo administrator of Guam EPA. "Guam EPA is working hard to ensure business community has a good understanding of our regulations and we are looking forward to discussing these topics in celebration of Earth Week."

The topics that will be addressed include Underground Injection Control (UIC), Occupancy Permits and Water Certification, hazardous waste, radon, Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control.

There is no admission fee but seating is limited to 25 people per session. Pre-registration is required.

Companies that are members of the coordinating organizations are encouraged to inquire about attendance and available time slots per topic via their respective associations. Non-members should contact Guam EPA at 475-1568/9 to register.

For more information about the workshops visit the Earth Week 2008! Web site or call 475-1658/59.
